Bhadrak: Large scale irregularities have surfaced in the supply of rice under Antyodaya Yojana in Dosinga panchayat under Chandbali block of Bhadrak district with beneficiaries of five villages including Balisahi alleging that subsidized rice is being misappropriated and they are thus deprived of getting their share of 35 kgs per family.

Under the scheme, a family is eligible to get 35 kg rice per month. But the beneficiaries here have alleged that they are supplied only 5kg rice and some even say they get 3 kg rice and that too on the basis of their ration card despite being Antyodaya card holders.

“The officials concerned told me that 35 kg rice has been allocated in my name under the scheme and asked for the card which I furnished. But they still gave me only 5 kg rice,” alleged a complainant Sandhya Bera.

“A public hearing was held in the panchayat which was attended by the district Collector. We informed the officer that the beneficiaries of the scheme are only given 3 kg rice. However, the Collector is yet to initiate any action in the matter,” Samiti member of Dosinga panchayat, Narendra Maity said.

“The sale register should be provided to us so that we get the details about the number of people enrolled under Antyodaya Yojana and Priority Households (PHH) schemes,” Maity added.

“Under the Antyodaya scheme, each family is eligible for 35 kg rice per month. However, we have not received any written complaint regarding the alleged irregularities in Dosinga panchayat. Once a complaint is received, appropriate action will be taken,” informed Chandbali Supply officer, Umesh Nayak.

Nayak further stated, “The samiti member had earlier asked me the list of the beneficiaries and I had provided him the list but he did not bring any such allegations.”

On the other hand, Nilima Nayak of Jai Jagannath SHG, which is responsible for the distribution of the rice in the area refused to comment on the matter on camera and said that steps will be taken to resolve the issue at the earliest.
