Malkangiri: An Indian Air Force helicopter was seen patrolling for hours over Swabhiman Anchala (cut-off area) here in the district today morning. Sources said the chopper performed sorties to keep a hawk eye on the movement of the ultras.

Earlier on Friday, Western range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and Malangiri Superintendent of Police (SP) visited Gorasetu BSF camp in the area and reviewed the situation there.

Two senior cops of the State police also discussed about anti-Maoist operations with the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.

Recently on November 4, security forces had busted a major hideout of Maoists insurgents and seized huge quantity of arms, ammunition and other articles in the cut-off area.

The camp was busted during a joint operation launched by the Odisha Police, BSF and Andhra Pradesh Police on specific intelligence inputs.

Two SLRs, one .303 rifle, one IED, nine 7.62 SLR rounds, magazines and other documents were seized from the camp.

The police suspect the arms and ammunitions belonged to the Maoists cadres of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC).
