Another Undertrial Prisoner Dies In Odisha, 2 Deaths In Last 3 Days

Nabarangpur: Two days after the death of an undertrial prisoner in Puri, an inmate of Nabarangpur sub-jail died while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Ramadhara Bhotra of Dasapaiguda village under Kodinga police station.

According to sources, Bhotra fell ill on Monday evening following and was admitted to district headquarters hospital.

However, he was declared dead while undergoing treatment.

Bhotra was lodged in the jail since January 22 following his arrest under POCSO Act, sources informed.

It is worthwhile to mention here that a UTP lodged in Puri district jail died under mysterious circumstances at hospital on Sunday.

Wife of the deceased, Sabita Das had alleged foul play behind his mysterious death. She suspected that her husband has been killed in the jail. She had also lodged a complaint at Ramachandi police station in this connection.

Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) KB Singh had assured investigation into the death of Sridhar as per guidelines of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
