Bhubaneswar: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Vigilance department on Friday stumbled upon more deposits of Rs 1.47 crore in the bank accounts of Akash Pathak, son of arrested IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak.

Today’s detection takes the total amount of deposits in three bank accounts of Akash Pathak in Bhubaneswar and Pune to Rs 17.52 crore.

Senior Vigilance officials said the tally is likely to go up even further as a detailed probe is currently underway.

“Today, the specimen of handwriting of Akash and his father Abhay Kant Pathak were collected for examination and comparison during investigation,” the Vigilance Department said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the examination of the CCTV footages which were earlier seized and other documents is also being carried out by the SIT team.

Akash was arrested by the Crime Branch on the charges of duping people on the pretext of providing them jobs at Tata Motors.

Akash had allegedly committed the offence by identifying himself as a managing director of the company.
