Berhampur: A day after a cow was critically injured by chewing a crude bomb, second such incident was reported from Kukudakhandi in Berhampur area of Ganjam district on Wednesday.

The cow unwittingly consumed the crude bomb which subsequently exploded in its mouth. The explosion caused severe injuries to its jaw and other parts of the mouth.

As per reports, the crude bomb was reportedly planted by unidentified persons to safeguard their crops from wild boars and other animals.

The explosive device has caused substantial damage to the animal’s mouth, reports stated.

It is relevant to mention here that a cow was seriously injured after it accidentally chewed on a crude bomb ostensibly taking it for some fruit at Kendupat village under Khallikote block in Ganjam district on Tuesday.

Two back to back incidents of cows falling victim to crude bombs have irked the animal lovers who demanded immediate action against the culprits.

The incidents come close on the heels of a nationwide outrage after an unsuspecting elephant died in Kerala when some miscreants fed it with a pineapple stuffed with explosive.
