Cuttack: Gang-rape survivor Anjana Mishra has requested the Orissa High Court (HC) to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to divulge information regarding the involvement of more persons in the case from the main accused Biban Biswal.

In a letter to the Justice of the High Court, she appealed the court to order a detailed investigation into the case and direct the CBI to take out more information regarding the involvement of other influential personalities in the incident.

She told the court that due to her financial instability, she cannot hire lawyer and requested the High Court to appoint a lawyer for her. Anjana further told the court to ensure her justice as soon as possible.

It may be recalled here that Anjana was gang raped by Biban Biswal and two others on the night of January 9, 1999. Biban, the prime accused in the case, who was on the run for 22 years, was arrested by Commissionerate Police from Aamby Vally near Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra in February.

Anjana has been demanding capital punishment for Biban Biswal and had earlier accused the CBI for not cooperating her in the case. She further alleged that due the lackadaisical attitude central probing agency, she is yet to get justice.

Anjana has also been alleging that due to the strong patronage by politicians of the Congress party, which was ruling the State when the ghastly incident had occurred in 1999, Biswal managed to evade arrest at that time.
