Puri: Alleging that the law and order situation in Puri district has gone for a toss, a BJP delegation led by Puri MLA Jayant Sarangi and Brahmagiri MLA Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra has met the newly-appointed Superintendent of Police Akhileshwar Singh.

The leaders reportedly expressed concerns over the law and order situation, especially in Satyabadi area where the local MLA’s supporters are allegedly threatening and attacking people.

Citing that no action has been taken against the miscreants involved in the attack on four youths in Kanas block on July 10, the BJP leaders demanded concrete measures for maintaining peace and tranquillity in the district.

“We discussed on the law and order situation. We also apprised the SP of the way the supports of Satyabadi MLA have unleashed terror and threatening people in the area,” said Ashrit Pattnayak, Puri district BJP president.

Puri MLA Jayant Sarangi said, “After our discussion, the SP has assured that appropriate measures will be taken to maintain law and order in the district.”

On the other hand, Puri SP Akhileshwar Singh said, “Stern action will be taken against whosoever is taking law into their hands.”
