Bhubaneswar: After successfully organising mega international sports events, Odisha is fast turning into the next sports capital of the nation. Even cricketer, Anil Kumble was amazed to see Odisha’s efforts in setting up state-of-art-infrastructure.
Kumble, who was here to attend the Odisha Knowledge Hub Lecture series today, said that great initiatives have been taken by Odisha Chief Minister and already several international events including the hockey world cup have been organised here.
“It’s good to see Odisha now taking the lead. I strongly believe that with so many experienced athletes we will see some champions emerging from the State,” said Kumble.

Kumble further stated that there is need to focus on grassroots and lot of infrastructure needs to be created.
"To become a sporting nation, we need to focus and invest at the grassroots level. This will lead to competition as well as raise the benchmark and help us win medals in the Olympics,” the cricketer said.
