Bhubaneswar: With the ruling-BJD gearing up to celebrate its 23rd Foundation Day tomorrow, the focus is likely to be on the party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's message to his ministers, leaders, and party workers.

Though it seems quite evident that CM Naveen's focus will be on his 5T model of governance and Mo Sarkar, he is likely put emphasis on ensuring his government's welfare schemes reach the last man standing in the line.

Besides, political observers are likely to keep an eye on the Naveen's stand on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). Though Naveen has already clarified that Odisha will not implement NRC but support CAA, there are allegations that BJD is acting as the 'B' team of the BJP.

"As a regional party, we are the guardians of the interests of the people of Odisha. Besides, the welfare of the people here is our priority," said Sanjay Das Burma, BJD's general secretary.

Meanwhile, it is believed the BJD has its work cut out as it will have to deal with issues like dissidence, succession planning and anti-incumbency among others.

"Like in the past, we will continue to fend off all challenges under Naveen Patnaik's leadership," said Prasanna Acharya, BJD vice-president.

"Ridding on Biju legacy and the image of Naveen Patnaik, the BJD has come so far, but the party will now face the biggest challenge. It will have to think based on what agenda it will reach out to people," said senior journalist, Prasanna Mohanty.
