Bhubaneswar: In a major decision, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to reopen all Aahaar Kendras in the capital city from today.

The city has a total of 12 Aahaar Kendras of which five located at various hospitals were functioning.

According to BMC sources, the rest seven centres will function from today.

The Aahaar scheme was launched in the State on April 1, 2015 with an objective to provide cooked meals to the poor and needy at an affordable cost of Rs 5 per meal. However the state was forced to stop the service in view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.
