Bhubaneswar: Odisha Congress disciplinary committee has passed a proposal to recommend the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to take action against senior party leader Srikant Jena for his allegedly undesirable comments.

“As he is a member of the AICC and a former Union Minister, the AICC will take decision on action against him. The disciplinary committee has sent its recommendations to the AICC,” said Hemananda Biswal, chairman of the PCC disciplinary committee.

In his reaction, Jena said, “Neither I have looted mines nor I have been reprimanded by the Orissa High Court for paying bribe. Don’t know how I broke the rules. I will give an explanation if sought by the party leadership.”

The meeting of the disciplinary committee was held today over Jena’s comments to select Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister candidates from OBC and SC/ST categories. He also allegedly violated party discipline by joining a programme organised by Krishna Chandra Sagaria, who recently quit his MLA post, instead of attending party meetings.

A few days back, Jena was removed from the chairmanship of the Congress Manifesto Committee and replaced by Ganeswara Behera.
