AICC constitutes screening committee for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Friday constituted screening committees for five states including Odisha.

AICC president Rahul Gandhi appointed VD Satheesan chairman of the screening committee for Odisha Congress. He also named Jitin Prasad and Naushad Solanki as other members of the committee.

According to sources, the screening committees will examine recommendations of the state units on ticket distribution and give their own suggestions to the party's Central Election Committee which will take the final decision.

"Congress has constituted a screening committee for the selection of candidates for the upcoming elections. It's a regular process of the party," said AICC secretary, Biswaranjan Mohanty, adding that with the early constitution of the screening committee, Odisha Congress can announce its candidates for the upcoming general elections early.
