After tiff with mother, youth shoots self in Bargarh

Bargarh: In an unfortunate turn of events, a youth allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself following a quarrel with his mother in Odisha. The shocking incident was reported from Kalami village under Ambabhona Police limits in Bargarh district on Friday night. The deceased, Rakesh Behera was a driver by profession.

As per reports, Rakesh always used to squabble with his mother over trivial issues.

Yesterday, Rakesh entered into a verbal duel with his mother soon after he reached the house along with a friend. Following this, Rakesh committed suicide by shooting himself from a gun, claimed family members.

However, as the gun used by Rakesh to shoot self is reportedly missing, it has triggered suspicion in the minds of local residents over the incident.

"I was not there at house when the incident took place. When I returned home, I saw he was lying on the floor with bullet injuries on his head. He shot himself to death," said Shyamlal Jamdulia, a relative.

On getting information, a team of senior police officers reached the spot and recovered Rakesh’s body from the spot.

"We have seized an empty bullet shell and a live bullet from the spot. We have sent the body for post mortem and further investigation in this connection is on,” said Bargarh SDPO Khirsagar Nayak.
