Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday busted an illegal factory allegedly engaged in manufacturing adulterated chili and turmeric powder. The unit was unearthed following a raid at Malgodown area in the city, police said.

As per reports, huge quantities of articles used for the adulteration were seized during the raid.
It is pertinent to mention here that Commissionerate Police has intensified its crackdown against manufacturers of adulterated food and beverages in the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

"The production unit was manufacturing turmeric and chili powder by mixing chemicals and other harmful products. The unit did not had any trade or food safety licence," said a senior police official.

Earlier on September 16, Jagatpur Police busted a fake vegetable sauce manufacturing unit near IB Road in Jagatpur.

Police had seized huge stock of the adulterated sauce and raw materials used for its manufacturing. Acting on a tip-off, the police swooped the unit and confiscated the stockpile of duplicate chilli and tomato sauce.

A fake ghee manufacturing factory was raided at Baurasahi under Choudwar police limits on September 14.
