Adulterated sauce manufacturing unit busted in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has busted an adulterated sauce manufacturing unit at Mahavir slum in Sailashree Vihar here and arrested one person.

Acting on a tip-off, the cops conducted raid on a dilapidated house in the slum last evening and seized equipment and stickers of 'Kiran' brand.

The arrested person, identified as Aarta Singh is being interrogated to elicit more information about his operations, informed police. "We are trying to find out how he procured the bottles of the particular brand and where he learnt the process of preparing the adulterated sauce," the official said.

Singh used to target small hotels and makeshift food outlets in Chandrasekharpur and Patia areas of Bhubaneswar to sell the adulterated sauce at Rs 16 per bottle against the price tag of Rs 46. The accused, had been operating the unit from the Mahavir slum for past six months, sources said.
