Cuttack: The State Crime Branch submitted the status report on the investigation into the death of social activist Aditya Dash before the Orissa High Court here on Wednesday.

In its report, the investigating agency stated that they were still to get any evidence to suggest that the social activist had been murdered.

The Crime Branch sought more time from the Court to submit the up-to-date status report of the case as the investigating officer has contracted Covid-19 and is undergoing treatment. The HC then fixed the hearing of the case on November 26.

It is worth mentioning that the Orissa High Court on November 4 had expressed its displeasure over the failure of the state Crime Branch to submit the status report on investigation into the death of Dash.

The court had then directed the probe agency to submit the updated status report by November 11 and scheduled the next hearing on the same day.

The body of the social activist and motivational speaker, Aditya Dash was found on the railway tracks near Lingaraj Temple Station on July 7, 2020. However, friends and relatives of the social worker alleged foul play and conspiracy behind his death following which the Director General of Odisha Police on July 30 had ordered the State Crime Branch to take over the investigation.
