Bhubaneswar: A 9-feet-long python was rescued from a farmland near Sakhigopal area in Puri district on Thursday.

According to sources, a person who had set up fishing net in his farmland spotted the reptile entangled in the trap today morning.

Upon information, officials of the local snake helpline rescued the snake and handed it over to the Forest department.

Sources said, after careful examination it was revealed that the snake bore some injury marks on its body and so the forest officials have handed it to the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology where it will be treated for two more days before being released to forest.

Earlier on Wednesday, snake helpline officials rescued a 6-feet-long python from a house at Satyamguda village on the outskirts of Malkangiri town while on August 3 a 10-feet long python was rescued from Kathapal village under Chhendipada block of Angul district.
