5 detained in firing case at marriage in Puri

Puri: Five persons were detained for questioning on Friday in connection with a firing incident at a marriage feast at Uttarana Gaudasahi under Chandanpur police limits late last night in which one person was killed.

Sources said previous enmity is suspected to be reason behind the firing.

The incident occurred following an argument ensued between the people of the bridegroom, son of one Ghana Naik, and the bride during the marriage feast. Following this, four rounds of bullets were fired one of which hit Trinath Naik’s back. The injured was rushed to the Puri hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, locals thrashed one youth Abinash Senapati on suspicion of being the attacke. He was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
