Bhubaneswar: While 45 sunstroke deaths have been reported so far this year in Odisha, seven cases have been confirmed as heat stroke deaths, informed Deputy Special Relief Commissioner, Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra today.

According to sources, out of total 45 cases reported so far, inquiry is underway into 38 cases and Collectors have been asked to submit reports.

“Seven deaths have been confirmed as sunstroke deaths as per the latest report,” Mohapatra stated.

“Inquiry into the remaining 38 cases is pending due to a delay in getting post mortem reports," the official added.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar has issued heat wave warning for the next two days.

However, the forecast stated that climatic conditions can change and bring some respite from heat with monsoon rain likely on June 23 and 24, Mohapatra informed.
