Angul: Four passengers including three women were killed while six others critically injured after the Bolero they were travelling in collided with a bus near Katada on National Highway-55 under Jarapada police limits in Angul district late Monday night.

Three women and the driver of the Bolero died on the spot while six other occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries. Fire services personnel immediately rescued the injured persons and rushed them to Angul District Headquarters Hospital. Later, one of them was shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The mishap occurred when the Bolero carrying the members of two families en route to Puri from Chhattisgarh rammed against the bus which was on its way to Ib-Thermal from Bhubaneswar.

Dr. Sushant Panda, a surgeon at Angul DHH who attended the wounded passengers said, “Six persons were admitted to the DHH of which one 11-year-old critically injured girl was referred to SCB for treatment. The condition of the injured is stable and they are out of danger.”
