Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown, the Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested four dacoits who were part of a criminal gang that mostly used to target women during morning walk in Bhubaneswar.

The four dacoits were arrested following a joint raid by a team of special squad and Chandrasekharpur police.

Senior police officials said that gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees have been seized from the dacoits.

Apart from the gold jewellery, police have seized a motorcycle, air pistol and other sharp weapons from their possession. The dacoits were allegedly involved in a number of loot incidents and their criminal antecedents are being verified.

The accused have been identified as Biswanath Barik (23), Arbaj Khan (20), Lipun Sethi (20) and Mangu Behera (23).
