Bhubaneswar: At least four doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Bhubaneswar have tested positive for COVID-19.

The doctors who have contracted COVID-19 include three senior and one junior resident doctor of the premier health institute.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar director B Gitanjali informed that the three senior resident doctors from surgery, pathology and pharmacology and a junior doctor from dermatology have tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier, four doctors and two attendants of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Bhubaneswar were sent on mandatory quarantine after they had come in contact with a COVID-19 patient in Odisha last month. The COVID-19 patient, a truck driver, who was rushed to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar after sustaining critical injuries in a road mishap, was found COVID-19 positive later.

Earlier yesterday, a doctor and a nurse of Nayagarh district headquarters hospital were found positive for COVID-19. The duo has been shifted to SUM COVID hospital in Bhubaneswar after their swab samples tested positive for the virus, informed Nayagarh Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Sudhanshu Sarangi.

“Both the doctor and the nurse were asymptomatic. Other doctors and nurses of the hospital who had come in contact with them have been placed under quarantine. Besides, the surgery ward of the hospital has been sealed and sanitised,” the CDMO said.
