Phulbani: At least 39 passengers were injured after a bus they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Kotgarh in Kandhamal district today. As per reports, the mishap occurred after the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle while crossing a bridge over Daduma Ghat.

Sources said there were nearly 50 to 60 passengers in the bus which was on its way from Kotgarh to Jubaguda.

Following the mishap, senior officials of the district administration and police swung into action and launched a massive rescue operation with assistance from local residents.

Out of the total 39 injured, 32 persons have been admitted to Kotagarh hospital while seven others, who sustained critical injuries in the mishap, have been shifted to Baliguda hospital.
