Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a 38-year-old man from Odisha succumbed to Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in greater Delhi.

The deceased has been identified as Gauri Shankar Parida of Giribandha village in Kendrapara district.

As per reports, Parida worked in a private firm in Noida. After developing fever, Parida underwent Covid test. He was admitted to a dedicated Covid hospital in Nodia after he tested positive for the virus.

Parida, who is survived by his wife and a three-year-old daughter, was staying with his younger brother in Noida.

It is pertinent to mention here that Delhi is grappling with a steep rise in Covid-19 cases.

The national capital city reported 24,368 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 249 deaths due to the disease in the past 24 hours.

Apart from Delhi, Covid-19 cases are rising fast in several other States including Odisha. The State witnessed all time spike of over 6,000 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

While 3575 cases were detected from quarantine, 2589 are local contacts cases, as per the data shared by I&PR department.

Seven more Covid-19 deaths were also reported from Odisha, taking the death toll to 1965 on Thursday.
