Keonjhar: As many as 32 Plus III students of Keonjhar Government Women’s College are now staring at an uncertain future allegedly due callous attitude on part of the officials of North Orissa University in tabulation of their internal marks.

As per reports, the students of Science and Arts streams appeared for the Plus III internal exam in 2017. Surprisingly, marks of the internal exam were not added to the marks secured by them in the third semester examination, the results of which were declared on November 8, 2018.

Though the students had lodged a written complaint with the college authorities, no measures were taken to rectify such irregularities, the students alleged.

Moreover, all the 32 students were shocked after they learnt that they were marked absent in internal exam and failed in the final examination. The results of plus III final results were announced on June 12, 2019.

Protesting such irregularities, the students on Thursday staged a demonstration and gheraoed the college authorities.

“In 2017, I had appeared for third semester exam of Plus III course and the result was declared with much delay in November 2018. I was surprised to find that my internal examination marks were not added to the final result while I was also marked as absent. Though we had reported the matter, the authorities did not pay any heed to our grievances,” said Mamalata Barik, a student.

Another student Silu Swarnalaxmi Palei said the college authorities are not taking any action on our allegations “Though the Principal of the College had assured of action, nothing was done despite submitting an application for second time,” she added.

The college authorities on the other hand blamed the North Orissa University for such goof-up.

“We have discussed the matter with senior officials and the University exam controller as well. After getting complaints from the students, we have already intimated the university. Undoubtedly, there were some errors on the part of the university. However, we expect some action will be taken in this regard in the next 2-4 days,” said Prabhakar Nayak, Principal in-charge of Keonjhar Government Women’s College.

Meanwhile, the authorities of North Orissa University could not be contacted on the allegations of students.
