Cuttack: A thick blanket of security cover will be put in place during the Durga puja celebrations in the millennium city of Cuttack, informed DCP Prateek Singh on Tuesday.
According to Singh, as many as 30 platoons of police force will be deployed for maintaining law and order as well as to ensure smooth conduct of Durga puja festivities in the city.
Besides, 100 officers will be engaged for supervising all security arrangements and for taking prompt action in case of any emergency situation.

While talking to reporters, the Cuttack DCP categorically warned that stern action will be taken against the people for violating COVID-19 norms.
“We are still battling COVID-19, elaborate arrangements are being made to clear the doubts of puja committees and other stake holders. Our focus and challenge would be to ensure that there is no congregation of people near mandaps,” said Singh.
Briefing on arrangements regarding the conduct of immersion ceremony, Singh stated that 14 sites have been identified for the immersion of idols in different parts of the Cuttack city.
