Angul/Keonjhar/ Jagatsinghpur: In a string of unfortunate incidents three women and a minor boy drowned in separate places across Odisha today.

In Angul, two sisters reportedly met their watery grave while taking bath in a pond. The deceased have been identified as Runu and Jhunu Sahoo.  Sources said both the sisters were taking bath in a pond nearby their house. While one of them is believed to have drowned after slipping, the other drowned while trying to save the former, informed sources.

Moreover, in Salijanga under Raghunathpur Police limits of Jagatsighpur district, a two-year-old-child drowned in a rivulet. The deceased has been identified as Chandrasekhar, son of Amiya Bhanja, a resident of the Salijanga village. According to reports, the child fell into the rivulet while playing. The boy was rescued and rushed to Radhua primary health centre in a critical condition. After his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Raghunathpur community health centre, where doctors declared him brought-dead.

Similarly, in Anandpur of Keonjhar district, an old lady drowned in Baitarani River.
