3 minors including two sisters drown in pond

Kandhamal: Three minor girls including two sisters were killed after drowning in a pond at Partamaha village in Baliguda area under Daringbadi block of Kandhamal district Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Renuka Nayak, Nenaka Nayak and Nisha Senapati, daughters of Bayabandhu Nayak and Prakash Senapati respectively.

As per sources, the girls aged between 6 to 8 years, went to the village pond to wash themselves after attending nature's call yesterday evening when they slipped into the pond water.

Purna Mallick, a local villager witnessed frock of a girl floating on the pond water and informed the villagers.

Later, Daringbadi Police and Fire department officials reached the spot and fished out the bodies of the girls which were later sent for post-mortem.
