3 arrested for ransacking property at police station in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Enraged residents of Katarbaga village in Sambalpur ransacked property at Katarbaga Police Station today demanding compensation for family of a road mishap victim. Following the incident, police have arrested three persons in connection with the case.

As per reports, a local resident, Prashant Dhurua, was killed in a road accident on Saturday night. A day later, a group of agitated villagers gheraoed Katarbaga Police Station and later destroyed property at the police station.

Apart from demanding compensation for the family of the deceased, the villagers also demanded arrest of the owner of the vehicle involved in the accident.

Following the incident, Sambalpur SP and district sub-collector reached the spot and pacified the villagers. As per latest reports, the district administration has deployed three platoons of police forces in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
