Bhubaneswar: The budget session of Odisha Assembly will commence from February 14 with ceremonial address by the Governor, as per an official notification issued on Tuesday.

The first phase of the Assembly session will be held from February 14 to February 26, while the second phase will commence from April 1 and continue till April 9. A motion of thanks on Governor’s address and discussion will be held on February 14 and February 15, respectively.

Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the 2020-21 State Budget in the Assembly on February 18. As the Union budget will be presented on February 1, Odisha will be get 18 days to finalise its State budget after reviewing the allocations by the Centre for several projects.

Recently, a pre-budget meeting was held and Odisha government is likely to give more emphasis on the development of health, education and agriculture. Apart from this, the State government may make some provisions in the budget to woo urban voters ahead of the civic body polls even though an official notification for the polls is yet to be issued.
