20 injured as under-construction bridge collapses in Sundergarh

Bonai: As many as 20 labourers were injured after a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed near Kunchapani under K. Balanga police limits in Sundergarh today.

As per preliminary reports, nearly 30 labourers were working at the site when the mishap occurred this afternoon.

Sources said, at least five labourers who sustained multiple injuries in the mishap have been admitted to Bonai hospital. However, there were problems in rushing other injured to the hospital due to poor road conditions in the area.

All the five critically injured labourers were shifted to hospital by local residents with assistance from police.

The bridge was being constructed by NBCC India while further details in connection with the incident are awaited.
