Mayurbhanj/Balasore: At least two persons were killed while another sustained critical injuries after a truck in which they were travelling fell into a 50-feet deep gorge at Bangiriposi ghat in Mayurbhanj on National Highway-59 this morning.

Reportedly, the iron-laden truck was enroute to Kolkata from Chandigarh when the mishap occurred. Soon after the incident, locals informed police who along with fire personnel rushed to the spot to carry out rescue operations.

While two persons including the driver of the truck died on the spot, another person was immediately taken to Bangiriposi hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile in Balasore, four persons were grievously injured after their car lost control and rammed into an electric pole near Soro area today. All the four persons, belonging to Gudida village, have been admitted to Balasore district headquarters hospital.
