2 killed, 38 injured as bus overturns in Kalahandi

Kalahandi: At least two persons were killed and 38 others sustained injuries after a bus in which they were travelling overturned near Jolako in Kesinga of Kalahandi district in the wee hours on Monday.

As per reports, the injured have been rushed to Bhawanipatna and Kesinga hospitals. Of the 38 injured, the condition of 11 persons is stated to be critical.

The mishap occurred when the bus carrying over 50 passengers was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Jeypore in Koraput district.

Initial reports suggested that the driver of the bus lost control while negotiating a curve near Jolako following which the vehicle skidded off the road and turned turtle.

Police and fire personnel rushed to the spot after getting information and launched a rescue operation. The intensity of the accident was so high that the entire bus was totally damaged in the incident.
