Malkangiri: Snakebite deaths are on the rise in Odisha as two more deaths were reported from Malkangiri district of the State today. One person from Titibiri Village & another from MV-30 lost their lives after being bitten by venomous snakes last night in the district.

According to sources, Deba Madkami of Titibiri Village was bitten by a venomous snake while he was asleep. He was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH). However, he succumbed while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Similarly, one Malati Ray of MV-30 village of the same district was also bitten by a snake. She too died at the district headquarters hospital while undergoing treatment.

Snakebite deaths, especially in the Malkangiri district, have seen a noticeable increase this year. As many as 20 people have died due to snakebites in district this year alone.
