Boudh/Subarnapur: As many as 18 persons sustained critical injuries in two separate road mishaps in the State late last night.

Around 10 passengers were injured when the bus in which they were travelling collided head on with a truck on National Highway No.57 near Khajuripada in the district on Thursday night.

Three of the injured passengers are in a critical condition. All of them have been admitted into the Boudh District Headquarters Hospital.

According to reports, the accident took place near Khajuripada when the private Bus--Tirupati was on its way from Bhubaneswar to Bhawanipatna.

Police officials, who reached the spot, said they are investigating the cause of the accident after ensuring that the injured are shifted for treatment.

In another separate accident, as many as eight passengers suffered serious injuries when their vehicle collided with a truck at Badajhinki along the Bolangir-Sonepur Road.

All the injured have been admitted to Sonepur medical. Later two of them were shifted to Burla as their conditions deteriorated.

According to reports, a marriage party from Harinapali village was returning from Patnagarh when a paddy-laden truck collided with it at Badajhinki.

Upon being informed, police rushed to the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
