Sundergarh/Ganjam/Mayurbhanj: As many as 16 persons were injured in three separate road accidents in Odisha on Saturday. A Rourkela-bound bus from Pallahara overturned near Darji in Lahunipara area injuring at least 10 persons.

According to sources, the bus veered off the road on NH-143 after a portion of the vehicle chasis broke apart, sources said. After getting information, police and fire service personnel reached the spot and rescued the passengers from the bus with the help of local resident.

In Ganjam, 3 persons sustained injuries in a head-on collision between two motorcycles near Bagada chhak on Digapahandi-Chikiti main road. The injured were initially rushed to Digapahandi hospital and later shifted to MKCG Hospital in Berhampur after their condition deteriorated.

Protesting frequent road accidents in the area, locals of Bagada blocked the road disrupting vehicular traffic. Two days ago, one person was killed in a road accident at the same spot.

In another incident, an ambulance overturned after meeting with an accident near Kathapala chhak in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district today. The mishap occurred soon after the ambulance staff dropped a patient at Krushanchandrapur Community Health Centre in the wee hours. The driver and pharmacist had sustained injuries in the accident.
