Koraput: At least 15 bonded labourers, including seven women, from Odisha were rescued from Peddapalli district of Telangana on Saturday. All the labourers are reportedly residents of Bolangir district.

According to reports, all the labourers were working at a brick kiln in the neighbouring state but the owner of the brick kiln allegedly used to torture them.

A voluntary organisation, International Human Rights Commission, somehow came to know about the matter and raided the brick kiln with the help of officials of the local labour department. Later, they rescued all the 15 labourers and sent them to Odisha.

The labourers reached Rayagada district last night where the local labour department officials made all arrangements for their boarding and lodging. The labourers will be sent to their home today, said sources.
