Bhubaneswar: An 11-year-old boy narrowly escaped an abduction attempt by some miscreants in the Capital City on March 30 last month. The matter came to the fore after the parents of the minor boy submitted CCTV footage of the kidnapping incident at the Infocity Police Station on Thursday.

As per reports, the boy, a resident of Prashanti Vihar area under Infocity Police Station here was standing outside his house on Tuesday afternoon when three unknown persons came in a car and called him asking an address.

When the minor boy went near the vehicle, the miscreants forcefully took him away with them in the car, alleged the boy.

"I had gone to my father's shop to give his helmet and was standing outside the house. They (abductees) came in a car and asked me my name, class and home address. Later, when I turned back to go back home, they gagged my mouth and forcibly pushed me inside the car," alleged the minor boy.

Later, the miscreants dumped him near Barang and fled the spot. The boy then came running to a fruit shop near Nandankanan and borrowed a mobile from the fruit seller to inform his father about the incident.

"My father immediately came and took me home. There were three people in the car and they were speaking in Odia," added the boy.

In the meantime, the parents of the boy searched his whereabouts and when they could not locate him, they approached the Infocity Police Station to file an FIR. However, the police asked them to wait for his return saying he might have intentionally gone somewhere.

"When we reached the police station to file an FIR, they told us that he might have gone somewhere and asked us to wait. Later, when my child returned home, we checked the CCTV camera installed near the incident site. We have submitted the footage to the police," said the mother of the boy.

The officials of Infocity Police are yet to respond in connection with the incident.
