Bhubaneswar: As many as 10 places in the western and interior parts of Odisha sizzled under intense heat wave conditions and recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius on Friday.

While Titlagarh remained the hottest in the state with a temperature of 45.5 degree Celsius, it was followed by Bolangir with 44.6 degree Celsius and Sonepur with 44 degree Celsius in Sonepur, the Met department informed.

The other places where temperature soared above 40 degree Celsius were: Sambalpur (43.3), Jharsuguda (43.2), Hirakud (42.4), Angul (41.7), Sundergarh (41.5), Talcher (40) and Malkangiri (40).

The IMD predicted more heat wave condition in coming five days.

"The temperature in coming five days will be more by two to three degree Celsius," H R Biswas, the director of the Meteorological Centre here said.

The state capital Bhubaneswar, which suffered devastation in cyclone Fani, the maximum temperature was 37.4 degree Celsius.

In neighbouring Cuttack, which too was ravaged by the cyclone, the highest temperature was 37 degree Celsius, the MeT centre here said.
