Sonepur/Balsore: One person was killed while 11 others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps in Sonepur and Balasore districts today.

In Sonepur, one person was killed while another person sustained critical  injuries after the two-wheeler they were riding collided with a car on the bridge over Anga river near Binika. The deceased has been identified as Sukra Sahu.

As per reports, Sahu died at the spot and the other person was initially rushed to Dunguripali hospital and later shifted to Burla hospital after his condition deteriorated.

Sources said the duo was on their way to Bargarh when the mishap occurred.

In another mishap, at least 10 persons sustained injuries after the tourist bus they were travelling in from Puri to Kolkata rammed into a stationary cylinder laden truck on national highway-16 near Daisada under Soro block in Balasore.

After getting information, police reached the spot and rescued the victims. All the injured were rushed to Soro Community Health Centre (CHC) where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Though the exact reason behind the mishap is unclear, it is suspected that the bus driver had fallen asleep which led to the accident, informed sources.
