Cold wave conditions continued to grip several interior as well as coastal districts of Odisha with night temperature dipping below 10 degree Celsius in many places, affecting normal life in the State.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, Phulbani, the headquarter town of Kandhamal district with 5 degree Celsius on Wednesday remained the coldest place in the State while Daringbadi recorded 6.5 degree C.

Other places which recorded temperature below 10 degree Celsius are— Jharsuguda (7.1), Titlagarh (7.3), Sundargarh (7.5), Keonjhar (7.6), Bhawanipatna (8), Rayagada (8), Bolangir (9), Korput (9.5), Sambalpur (9.5) and Boudh (9.6). 

The residents of the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also shivered on Wednesday as night temperature plummeted to 10 degree C and 10.8 degree C, respectively.

It may be mentioned here that this is the second time that Bhubaneswar has recorded 10 degree Celsius in the last three days. With this, the Capital City has recorded the fourth-lowest December temperature in the last 11 years.

Earlier in the month of December, Bhubaneswar had recorded 8.2 degree Celsius in 2018, 9.8 degree C in 2019 and 10 degree C recently on December 21, informed the Met office.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued yellow warning for isolated Cold wave conditions over the districts of Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Nabarangpur for the next 24 hours.
