The low pressure now lies as a well marked low pressure over Northwest and adjoining West-central Bay of Bengal off Odisha and adjoining north AndhraPradesh coasts, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

As per IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, the system is likely to concentrate into a Depression during the next 48 hours. Subsequently, the system is likely to move west-northwestwards across Odisha and Chhattisgarh, tweeted IMD’s Regional Centre. IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in several parts of the state.

The Met department has issued 'Red Warning'  for heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places (7 to 20cm) with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) at isolated places over the districts of Kalahandi and Rayagada. (The warning is valid till 08:30 hours of August 8, 2022).

As per IMD, several parts of Odisha will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours. Barmul of Nayagarh district recorded the highest rainfall of 229.4 mm, followed by 180.3mm of rainfall in Padmapur of Rayagada district.

Red Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places (7 to 20cm) with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) at isolated places over the districts of Kalahandi and Rayagada.

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Angul.

Day-2: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 08.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 09.08.22.)

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, and Koraput.

Day-3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 09.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 10.08.22)

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Keonjhar.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Boudh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nayagarh.

Day-4: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 10.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 11.08.22)

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Deogarh.

August 7: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely over northwest Bay of Bengal along & off Odisha & West Bengal coasts and Andaman Sea. Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is very likely over south & adjoining central Bay of Bengal and along & off Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Comorin area & east Sri Lanka coasts.

August 8: Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is very likely over northwest Bay of Bengal along & off Odisha & West Bengal coasts, central & adjoining south Bay of Bengal and along & off Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Comorin area & east Sri Lanka coasts.

August 9: Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is very likely over northwest Bay of Bengal along & off Odisha & West Bengal coasts, central & adjoining south Bay of Bengal and along & off Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Comorin area & east Sri Lanka coasts.

August 10: Squally wind speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph is very likely over central parts of North Bay of Bengal and 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph over westcentral Bay of Bengal & along & off Odisha, West Bengal & North Andhra Pradesh coasts.

August 11: Squally wind speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph is very likely over central parts of North Bay of Bengal and 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph over westcentral Bay of Bengal & along & off Odisha, West Bengal & North Andhra Pradesh coasts.
