Bhubaneswar: The coastal districts of Odisha along with few places in Malkangiri, Raygada and Kandhamal districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall today and tomorrow.

The Regional Meteorological Department, Bhubaneswar informed that thunderstorm with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places under the influence of Nor’wester.

“Thunderstorm with lightening very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jaipur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Rayagada in the next 48 hours,” stated IMD in a press release on Friday.

 

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Koraput, Malkangiri and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

According to IMD sources, cyclonic storm-- Tauktae is intensifying over the South-East Arabian Sea and it is likely to further intensify and turn into a low pressure in the coming days. Located near Lakshadweep, the low pressure will reportedly move in a north-westerly direction gaining enough speed by Sunday.
