Normal life across Odisha has been hit due to the intense spell of heat wave conditions prevailing for the past several days. However, people can expect some relief as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted some drop in maximum temperature.

As per the IMD, there will be no large change in the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) during the next two days and a slight fall by 2-3°C thereafter at many places over the district of Odisha. Moreover, the IMD has also issued an orange warning for heat wave to severe heat wave conditions in different parts of Odisha for the next two days.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 20.04.2024)

Orange Warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh.

Heatwave condition very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khordha, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 21.04.2024)

Orange Warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Mayurbhanj. Heatwave condition very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Khordha, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Gajapati.

Yellow Warning: Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Khordha, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 23.04.2024)

Yellow Warning:Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati , Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Boudh, Kandhamal.
