Thunderstorm likely in 24 hours; IMD sounds yellow warning for heatwave for Odisha districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted light to moderate rain or thunderstorm activities in some parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours. Apart from this, the IMD has also issued a yellow warning for hot and humid weather conditions in different parts of the state for the next 5 days.

"Gradual rise in maximum temperature (Day Temperature) by 4-6°C during next 4-5 days at many places over the districts of Odisha," said IMD.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 15.04.2024): Light rain/thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Yellow Warning: Hot and humid weather condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Khordha, Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 16.04.2024): 

Yellow Warning: Heatwave condition likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 16.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 17.04.2024) 

Yellow Warning: Heat wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Kandhamal
