Thunderstorm, heavy rainfall to lash these Odisha districts till August 19

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that several parts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm activities in the next few days.

In its latest weather bulletin, the IMD has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in several districts of the state till August 19.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is also likely to occur on Independence Day tomorrow.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 15.08.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Bolangir.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 16.08.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khorda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur. 

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 16.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 19.08.2023)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Bargarh, Bolangir.
