Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted heavy rainfall for several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

The IMD has issued an ‘Orange Warning’ for seven districts- Keonjhar, Mayurbbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kendrapara. Similarly, heavy rain is also likely to occur in Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Angul, Deogarh, Sundergarh, Sonepur, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts.

The warning will remain valid till 0830 hours of June 13 (tomorrow), the IMD said in a release.

As per the latest update, yesterday’s low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast, Gangetic West Bengal coasts now lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and North Odisha.

“The system is likely to become more marked and more west-northwest wards across Odisha, Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh during next 2-3 days,” said IMD.

As squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail in Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal, the fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea till June 14, 2021.

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda,Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Heavy rainfall also likely in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kendrapara.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hours of June 14 to 0830 hours of June 15)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Deoghar, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Bargarh and Jajpur.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hours of June 15 to 0830 hours of June 16)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall likely in Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Angul and Keonjhar.
