The much-awaited southwest monsoon has set in over Odisha on Thursday. Under its impact, several parts of the state received rainfall. 

Informing about the development, HR Biswas, director of the IMD’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar, said, “The southwest monsoon advanced to most areas of Malkangiri, Koraput and some areas of Gajapati district. The weather conditions are very favorable for further advancement of monsoon over Odisha during the next two days. During the last 24 hours, different places of Malkangiri district witnessed rainfall. Odisha reported scattered rainfall.”

“In the next 24 hours, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam and Khordha are likely to witness very heavy rainfall. Similarly, heavy rainfall is likely to lash one or two places of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Jajpur,” he informed.

2. Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nawarangapur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal.
