After climbing the temperature ladder for 10 straight days, the mercury is finally set to drop in Odisha owing to rainfall, which is likely to occur starting next week, informed the weather department on Saturday.

“For the next five to six days, there are chances of rainfall at one or two places in the State every day. In fact, there are chances of rain at one or two places in south and north Odisha today too,” said Weather Scientist, Umashankar Das.

“Following rainfall, the temperature will slightly come down in the interior parts of the State. On April 17 and 18, there are chances of rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in coastal Odisha,” he added.

Day 1 (Valid up to 8:30am of April 15, 2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Kalahandi and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning

Heat wave condition is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Jharsuguda.

Day 2 (Valid from 8:30am of April 15, 2023 to 8:30 am on April 16, 2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Day 3 (Valid from 8:30am on April 16, 2023, to 8:30am on April 17, 2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Day 4 (Valid from 8:30am of April 17, 2023, to 8:30am on April 18, 2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur in a few places over the districts of North-Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Moreover, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Khordha, Puri, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, and Kalahandi.

Day 5 (Valid from 8:30am of April 18, 2023 to 8:30am of April 19, 2023)

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the rest of the districts of Odisha.
