Kalbaisakhi rainfall begins in parts of Odisha
A welcome relief from the oppressive summer heat has arrived with the onset of Kalbaisakhi storms in various parts of the state. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has predicted rainfall until the 4th of this month, offering a much-needed cool down.
The weather department has issued advisories regarding potential thundershowers, accompanied by mild to moderate winds. Wind speeds are anticipated to reach between 30 to 40 km/h in some districts, escalating to 40 to 50 km/h in others.
A yellow alert has been issued, signalling expected light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in 15 districts today. Residents in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, and Sonepur have been advised to remain cautious and prepare for potential disruptions.
Wind velocities may vary, with certain areas likely experiencing winds between 30 to 40 km/h, while others could witness speeds reaching 40 to 50 km/hr.
In addition, districts including Boudh, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Koraput should be on alert for expected showers accompanied by strong winds.
As per the forecast, several parts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm activities till April 4-5, 2025.
Amidst this weather activity, officials stress vigilance and encourage citizens to stay updated on local advisories to manage these temporary but intense conditions effectively.
